Wait, a Dating App?! 😂
Apparently We Were Building a Dating App 😂
Building something from scratch means things are constantly changing. Ideas evolve. Designs change. And occasionally, you look at your own website and realize…Wait. Does this look like a dating app?
Yeah. About that.
So… About That Hero Image
For a while, the main image on the Phresh homepage – and within some of our early app concepts – featured a group of young people hanging out together.
The idea made perfect sense. Friends. Connection. Your Krew. Real people spending time together. There was just one tiny problem. The longer we looked at it, the more we started thinking:
“Why does Phresh suddenly look like it’s going to help me find singles in my area?” 😂
Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Our wholesome group of friends had somehow crossed the invisible visual line between:
“Social media built around real friendships.”
and
“Brad, 26, enjoys hiking, tacos, and meaningful conversations.”
That was… not exactly the brand direction we were going for. So we changed it.
One Person. One Moment. No Performance.
Instead of trying to visually explain Phresh with a perfectly assembled group of attractive people conveniently having the greatest afternoon of their lives, we’re moving toward something simpler.
One person. One ordinary moment.
Someone walking through the city. Sitting outside. Listening to music. Waiting for friends. Browsing records. Grabbing food. Not posing. Not performing. Not trying to convince the internet that their life is amazing. Just… living.
And strangely enough, that feels much more like Phresh.
We’re also continuing to blend modern life with the visual language of the 90s – current people, current environments, and current culture photographed with the warmth, imperfection, and personality of a different era.
It’s not about pretending it’s 1996. It’s about bringing a little of that feeling into 2026.
Before everything needed a Like. Before everyone needed an audience. Before every moment needed to become content.
Phresh Keeps Evolving
We’re learning something important while building this thing:
Phresh doesn’t need to look like every other social platform. Actually, it probably shouldn’t.
The product is evolving.
The website is evolving.
The ideas are evolving.
But the reason we’re building Phresh hasn’t changed. We still believe there’s room for another kind of social space – one that doesn’t ask you to abandon Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or anything else you enjoy.
We’re simply building another option. A smaller, more personal corner of your digital life where the scoreboard disappears and your Krew matters more than your reach.
And apparently… one that no longer looks like it’ll match you with someone 3 miles away. Progress. 😂
Keep it Phresh.
