So, funny story.
While wandering around the internet recently, we stumbled across an app called Presh.
Their website? presh.app Ours? phresh.app
Well…this isn’t confusing at all. 😆
For about five seconds, we had the same reaction you probably just had: Wait. What?!
But after taking a closer look, it turns out we’re building two very different things. And the whole discovery got us thinking: there are actually quite a few apps, companies, and products floating around the internet with some variation of fresh, presh, phresh, or something that sounds suspiciously close.
So we figured this was probably a good time to explain exactly who Phresh is — and why there’s an H hanging out in there in the first place.
First things first: we’re Phresh.
P-H-R-E-S-H.
We’re building a social app centered around small circles of people we call your Krew. No collecting followers. No performing for an audience. No public popularity contest. No endless algorithmic feed deciding what deserves your attention.
Phresh is being designed as a smaller, more intentional social space built around the people you actually know and care about. Basically, we’re trying to make social media feel a little more…social again.
So why spell Fresh with a PH?
Because we’re 90s kids. 😎
If you remember the era when fat could become phat, crew could become krew, and creative spelling was practically part of the aesthetic, you’re already halfway there. Phresh is our little nod to that era.
But the 90s influence isn’t about pretending it’s 1996 again. We don’t miss dial-up and we don’t miss waiting three hours for something to download. And we definitely don’t need AOL CDs showing up in our mailbox again.
As mentioned before, what we do miss is some of the feeling from that period of the internet – when being online felt more like discovering, talking, hanging out and having fun, and a little less like maintaining your own personal media company.
That’s the spirit behind the name.
Fresh became Phresh.
And your Crew became your Krew.
And then we discovered Presh.
Yep.
There’s another app called Presh, without the H.
And, somewhat hilariously, they’re also at presh.app.
But despite being separated by exactly one tiny letter, Presh and Phresh are very different products.
Presh is built around helping people share short, spontaneous voice conversations with people they care about.
Phresh is being built as a small-circle social platform — a place to share, check in, hang out and interact with your Krew without all the public numbers, follower chasing and performance that have become so common in traditional social media.
Different company.
Different app.
Different idea.
Different spelling.
Very, very similar URL. 😂
And just to make it crystal clear: Phresh is not affiliated with Presh.
We just happen to be two groups of people building technology around human connection who apparently also have remarkably similar taste in domain names.
Apparently “fresh” is a popular neighborhood.
The more we looked around, the funnier it got.
There are plenty of businesses, apps and products using names that play with fresh, phresh, presh and similar variations. Which honestly makes sense. “Fresh” is a pretty great word.
New.
Different.
Clean.
A reset.
For us, though, Phresh isn’t just a different spelling of a word. It’s part of the personality of what we’re building.
The 90s references.
The Krew.
The Beeper.
The Arcade.
The intentionally smaller social experience.
Even the occasional questionable spelling decision. 😆
It all belongs to the same little world we’re creating.
So if you were looking for Phresh…
You found us. We’re Phresh, with the H.
The social app for your Krew.
We’re still building it. We’re still figuring things out. And we’re doing it with a team considerably smaller than the giant social platforms we’re questioning.
But maybe that’s fitting. Because Phresh isn’t supposed to be about having the biggest audience in the room. It’s supposed to be about having the right people in it.
And if you happened to arrive here while looking for Presh? No worries. They’re one letter that way. 😆
To the people building Presh, if you ever stumble across this:
Hi. 👋
Apparently we both have pretty good taste in domain names.
Keep doing your thing.
We’ll keep doing ours.
We’ll keep it Phresh.
